Jackalope Live Action Studios is happy to announce the launch of Coven 1934, a occult horror LARP in the Nordic bespoke style. Set during the Dust Bowl in 1934, the game will delve into both real and supernatural horror, the collapse of social and actual reality, and the conflicts between and within people at the edge of society. It will draw inspirations from authors such as Stephen King and Clive Barker; along with media such as Carnivale and Sinners.
The first run of the game is set for Thursday, February 26th, 2026 thru Friday, February 27th, 2026.
Sign-ups for casting will begin immediately and close at the end of July 2025. Sign-ups will be followed by curated game invites; and a flagging process.
The game will be held at a ghost town in Manor, TX – only a few minutes outside of Austin, TX. The site has been used in multiple media productions, including Fear the Walking Dead. The ghost town will represent an isolated Dust Bowl town in the plains of Texas during the Depression.
Coven 1934 is set at the intersection between the mundane and the supernatural, set against the chaos and uncertainty of one of America’s darkest times, when all things precious and secure seem to blow apart into the dust that rolls over the horizons. The characters reflect that feeling and time.
All characters for Coven 1934 are prewritten by the staff. They range from the desperate and mundane to the sinister and supernatural. Characters will be divided into three broad categories:
- The Unnatural, those who deal directly with forces of the occult or are one of those forces themselves.
- The Mundane, those who have not touched the supernatural world before the events of the game, or who have remained willfully ignorant of them.
- The Touched, those who have some knowledge of the unnatural and strange, and might have some strange abilities of their own.
